What does the academic library of the future look like?

how are students supposed to learn how to evaluate the quality of information they find online (especially if they don't come to the library)?

They could "come to the virtual library" for a training session provided in podcast/vodcast form.
Does "coming to the library" force them to evaluate info? No. I think not. Evaluating information is a skill that needs to be taught... perhaps by coming to a teaching session in the library, but not necessarily. They could also obtain this knowledge by getting guidance from someone with experience.
